  1. What action was taken by the Surburban Land Agency as a result of the photos I provided to the Minister for Transport and City Services which showed workers mowing grass clippings directly into Lake Tuggeranong.
  2. What other areas of Canberra are the Surburban Land Agency responsible for mowing.

Answer

(1) Mowing contractors are advised that they must point their chutes away from bodies of water. The Suburban Land Agency (SLA) and Transport Canberra and City Services have sent a reminder to contractors of this requirement. 

(2) As of 12 December 2022, SLA is responsible for mowing the following areas, noting these are all SLA sites:

  • Whitlam estate;
  • Verges and blocks of unsold land in the estate of Taylor;
  • Unsold blocks in the Gungahlin Town Centre within Sections 231, 230 and 11;
  • Greenway Block 4 Section 65 (a small park between buildings);
  • Jacka 2 estate (fire fuel reduction slashing);
  • Lawson 2 estate (fire fuel reduction slashing);
  • Horse Park Homestead, Jacka (fire fuel reduction slashing);
  • Wright Block 1 Section 39;
  • Coombs Block 1 Section 21, Block 2 Section 36, and Block 3 Section 17;
  • Wright Sections 53, 54, 55 and 56;
  • Yarralumla Brickworks;
  • Gold Creek Homestead, Ngunnawal;
  • Belconnen Block 2 Section 23, Block 5 Section 22 and Block 4 Section 185;
  • Kingston Section 49, Eyre Street and The Causeway Street verges;
  • Hume Block 106 Section 22; 
  • Monash Block 16 Section 56;
  • Moncrieff Blocks 1 and 2 Section 22, Block 4 Section 23;
  • Turner Section 57; and
  • Williamsdale, former service station site.
