(NBN boosted infrastructure funding)
- Can the Minister advise which ACT suburbs will receive improved NBN infrastructure through the Commonwealth Government's $2.4 billion equity investment announced in 2022.
- Will McKellar be included as part of the upgrades referred to in part (1).
- Can the Minister outline which particular areas through Belconnen will receive improved capability.
Answer
The ACT Government welcome’s NBN Co’s commitment to the rollout of Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) within the ACT. Full fibre connections to the premises will offer faster, more reliable, and more energy efficient broadband services to the Territory’s residents. The rollout of the National Broadband Network is a responsibility of the Commonwealth Government.
The ACT Government has consulted with the NBN on these matters and has been provided the following information.
Eligible customers in Ainslie, Belconnen, Bonython, Calwell, Casey, Cook, Dickson, Fadden, Garran, Gordon, Griffith, Holt, Isaacs, Kaleen, Kambah, Kingston, Macgregor, Macquarie, Mawson, Monash, Narrabundah, O'Malley, Phillip, Wanniassa, Weston and Yarralumla
will be able to order the NBN’s Home Ultrafast broadband services with wholesale speeds of 500 megabits per second (Mbps) to 1 Gigabit per second (Gbps) by the end of 2025. Individual residents from these suburbs can confirm their eligibility on the NBN website.
The NBN has advised that requests for further information need to be sent directly to them and that customers in those suburbs listed are able to verify for themselves if their exact premise is included.
