  1. How many small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the ACT have a Secure Local Jobs Code (SLJC) certificate.
  2. Is there a cost for businesses to apply for a SLJC certificate; if so, can the Minister outline the details on the cost for all industries or business type.
  3. Is there a cost for renewing a SLJC certificate; if so, can the Minister provide details on the cost for all industries and business type.
  4. How many SMEs that have a SLJC certificate have tendered for government contracts for each year since 2018-19.
  5. How many SMEs that have a SLJC have not tendered for any government contracts while their certificate was active for each year since 2018-19.

  1. Employee numbers indicating an enterprise’s size is only provided during the initial or renewal stage of an entity’s certification audit, which is conducted by external auditors. The external auditors provide the SLJC Registrar with the employee figure collected at that point. Based on this point in time data, 1,625 entities would meet the SME criteria out of the 2,220 entities currently certified. It is not a requirement under the Code for businesses to provide an up-to-date number of employees to the SLJC Registrar.
  2. Certification audits are undertaken by external approved auditors who determine their own fees.
  3. The cost of renewing a SLJC certificate is set by the external approved auditors. 
  4. This would require a search of all contracts and tenders and would be an unreasonable diversion of resources.
