Question asked
  1. What evidence supports the statement of the Chief Minister in July 2025 that GIO Stadium has around 10 years of life remaining and will the Chief Minister provide the engineering or asset condition reports relied upon, including dates, authors and key findings,  given that previous Government advice has identified a “use-by” date of around 2027 and indicated that upgrades to modern standards would not extend its useful life.
  2. Does the Government continue to rely on advice identifying a “use-by” date of around 2027; if not, when was that advice superseded and by what.
  3. What is the responsible agency’s current estimate of GIO Stadium’s remaining useful operational life, expressed in years; if none exists, why not.
  4. What works and cost are assumed to sustain or extend GIO Stadium’s operational life.
  5. What known defects or risks have been identified in the past five years and do any reduce GIO Stadium’s safe operational life.
  6. Does GIO Stadium meet current National Construction Code and Australian Standards or does it rely on legacy exemptions.
  7. What is the projected 10-year maintenance cost compared to replacement.
  8. What financial and legal exposure does the Government face if further failures occur.
  9. Does the Chief Minister stand by his “10-year” estimate, and is it supported by formal advice.
