Can the Minister provide, for each day of (a) January 2023 and (b) December 2022, the light rail door passenger counter boarding figure.
Answer
The number of daily MyWay boardings on Light Rail is publicly available on the ACT Governments Open Access Data Portal. This information can be found under the dataset ‘Daily Public Transport Passenger Boardings by Service Type’.
It should be noted that this public transport patronage data is sourced from the MyWay ticketing system tap on and off, through NetBi.
Due to consistency and possible anomalies, Canberra Metro Operations (CMET’s) light rail door passenger count data is not considered by Transport Canberra as the official reporting source for light rail. This operational data is only requested from CMET on rare occasions, such as following special events with integrated event ticketing, where event ticket holders travel for free on public transport and are therefore not captured in MyWay data.
