Question
(Motorcycle parking)
How many public motorcycle parking spots (a) are there in each district in 2024 and (b) were there in each district in 2019.
Answer
Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS) undertakes parking utilisation surveys for city centre, town centres and other selected centres. Between the survey undertaken in 2018 and 2023 different data collection methods were used to determine the publicly-owned motorcycle parking spaces.
In 2018, TCCS conducted a desktop parking survey using the Signs asset dataset that includes parking signs and associated parameters complemented by aerial photography. In 2023, TCCS commissioned a contractor to undertake public parking utilisation survey that included on-street car parking spaces, as well as privately operated public accessible off-street carparks and motorcycle parking.
The below table outlines the number of marked spaces provided for motorcycles in public parking spaces.
