Answer

(1) (a) There are around 1,500 disability parking spaces within ACT Government car parks. Holders of disability permits can also park within any ACT Government car park for longer durations than the sign posted time limits. Where the parking restriction is for a period less than 30 minutes – disability permit holders can park for up to 2 hours; and for an unlimited period – where the time restriction is greater than 30 minutes.

(1) (b) The ACT Government undertakes an annual parking survey of town centres and other selected locations. The table below shows the amount of parking at town centres and selected locations from the ACT Parking Survey 2022 data.

As the majority of on-street parking is not within marked bays, it is not possible to confirm the total amount of parking available for general use.

(2) As of 5 September 2023, there are 27,077 people registered with a valid disabled parking permit.
