  1. Can the Minister outline all (a) occupational violence training and (b) workplace bullying, and harassment training that has been (i) optional and (ii) mandatory, between 1 July 2022 and 1 June 2023.
  2. Can the Minister provide information on when the training, referred to in part (1), was (a) commenced and (b) the deadline.
  3. For the period 1 July 2022 and 1 June 2023, can the Minister (a) provide a breakdown, by division, on how many staff have completed the (a) optional and (b) mandatory training referred to in part (1), (b) outline the percentage of the unit that has completed this training by division and (c) provide the total percentage of all Canberra Health Services (CHS) employees who have completed and not completed the training.
  4. Can the Minister list all other mandatory training courses that CHS provided between 1 July 2022 and 1 June 2023.
  5. For each of the mandatory training courses referred to in part (4), can the Minister provide the percentage of CHS staff that (a) have completed the training and (b) have not completed the training.
  6. Can the Minister provide, for the mandatory training courses referred to in part (4), the percentage of CHS staff that (a) have completed the training, by division and (b) have not completed the training, by division.

(1) (a) occupational violence (OV) training (i) optional 

CHS OV face to face training is optional and role based. The training is team based and modular including Module 1 Awareness, Module 2 De-escalation and Module 3 Protect.

(1) (b) occupational violence training (ii) mandatory 

Mandatory Training for all staff is 5 eLearning modules, listed below:

(i) Occupational Violence – Module 1 – Risks, Rights & Responsibilities

(ii) Occupational Violence – Module 2 – Understanding Human Behaviour

(iii) Occupational Violence – Module 3 – Positive Interactions & Choices

(iv) Occupational Violence – Module 4 – Dynamic Risk Assessment & Decision Making

(v) Occupational Violence – Module 5 – Skills Preventing Escalation

The topics of workplace bullying, and harassment training is covered under an overarching ‘Workplace Behaviours’ mandatory training (see table Question 5).

(2) (a) OV eLearning training was mandated from 11 January 2021 and OV optional face to face training commenced on 29 June 2021.

(2) (b) The deadline for mandatory OV training is 21 days from staff commencement date with CHS. There is no deadline for optional OV training.

*As this is mandatory one-off training, this column will not show staff who have not completed the training in the timeframe allocated but may have completed the mandatory training outside the time period.

(4) Canberra Health Services provides 16 modules of mandatory training, via the Learning Management System, to all staff upon commencement with the service. The average completion time for this training is approximately 9 hours 30 mins. All modules are eLearning except for Speaking up for Safety, which is delivered over one hour in a classroom setting.
